We have decided to offer the River kids and the Ricotta buckling for sale. Actually at just one day old, the River buckling found his new home in Deer Park. The River doeling will be priced at $100. The sire is unknown. The Ricotta buckling will be priced at $300. He has amazing genetics and not only that but he is absolutely the most handsome, splashy kid we’ve had for awhile. He will throw some NICE kids! See our Craig’s List ad for pictures!
Sunday night it appeared that Ricotta was definitely in labor. Kezi and Bekah took turns checking on her, even through the night. By morning, Bekah came in and said I don’t think it will be long. Kezi said I really don’t think Ricotta is that close. Bekah replied with a grin, I am not watching Ricotta. Hmmmm! Sure enough by breakfast time River had one buckling and one doeling. Healthy delivery, healthy babies
. River had won the race. But not very far ahead of Ricotta. By noon she delivered a gorgeous buckling and doeling. Praise the Lord!!
O Lord my God, when I in awesome wonder, consider all the world thy hands have made, I see the stars I hear the rolling thunder, thy power throughout the universe displayed. Then sings my soul my Savior God to thee, how great thou art, how great thou art!
Chelly was kind of a surprise. She had not really been looking ready.
2 -1-16 We went out to chores and found Chelly’s udder full and she was completely dropped.
We continued checking on her throughout the day. At 5;00 we were finishing feeding babies so I decided to check on Chelly and found her laying down with her water broke. After a while she pushed and I saw part of the baby. I tried to figure out what it was and discovered it was a rear hock so I unfolded the leg and delivered a beautiful 5.8 doeling. Not long after that she delivered two bucklings.
Way to go, girls! A fabulous start to the kidding season…… Thank you Lord!
A quick update on Rhoda: At only 5 days fresh, she is already milking 9.7 lbs. Amazing milker!!!
2016 Kiddings! Hard to believe they are here already. I didn’t realize it had been so long since we had written anything on here. We have had a very busy past year and somehow blogging didn’t make the priority list!

Well, all we can do is start from here. With kidding season now underway, we will try to keep updates on here.
First was Rhoda. We had been watching her closely because we knew of course she was very close. We woke up January 31st, Kezi’s 10th birthday, went outside to check on the girls and found Rhoda happily relaxing with her triplet bucklings.
Next came Rosemary. She was very large and uncomfortable. Definitely thought she might go ahead of Rhoda. About 10:00pm we when to check on her and decided especially seeings she has a track record of kidding LATE At NIGHT she would not last till morning. At 2:00 am we came out to check on her and found 1 doeling already born and turning to Rosemary we found another baby ready to be born. As soon as it was born, we found this was another doeling!!!!!! Soon we discovered that this was not all….. Rosemary pushed again and a head appeared. As I looked for feet I realized this was going to be a head first delivery. Being baby#3 it was not as difficult as I had anticipated and very soon another 7# doeling joined the late night party. And yes, believe it or not, Rosemary had triplet doelings !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A perfect blessing with Rhoda’s bucks.
Opps some of these got posted out of order
No big deal
!!!
Jewel kindly presented us with our third set of triplet bucklings this year. She had a wonderfully quick birth and I was with her for a total of 10 or 15 minutes. So not alot to say except three more beautiful bucklings to choose from
!!
Shalom kidded late late at night and all we stayed up that whole time for was more bucklings. Yes, Shalom had twin bucklings. Well, I guess the Lord is blessing us with no doelings so we don’t have to decide to sell them.
Diamond was hanging out in the corner of the doe pen when I came out to milk on March 26th. Her milk was in and all so I figured she would definitely kid today. I figured I’d put her in the kidding pen after chores. When I came out to get my second doe to milk I saw her push then stand up. So I put my goat in the pen and moved Diamond to the kidding pen. After I finished milking I went to check on her and the first kid’s toes were already showing. As soon as another contraction came he quickly slid into the world….yes another buck. Soon was followed by another buckling….BOOO! More bucklings. Both boys are healthy and doing great!!
Rhoda was in labor all afternoon but thankfully waited till I got home from town as Rhoda and Regina have always been my babies. The other children thankfully milked my goats for me that night and I sat with Rhoda. Right in the middle of chores she began pushing and delivered a beautiful brown buckling that definitely has “The Molly Look”. Shortly thereafter Rhoda started pushing again and delivered “MY little girl”!!! YEAH!! She then was pushing again and out came another beautiful boy. THEN Rhoda started pushing AGAIN yes another little boy!! WOW Rhoda QUADS!!! At three days fresh she is already milking a gallon!! GO GIRL!!!!
